Our library serves students and teachers in grades Pre-K - 12.
We have approximately 20,000 copies of books and AV.
We have an automated circulation and cataloging system.
Students in grades K - 6 come at regularly scheduled times to check out books and to receive instruction. |
 Library Schedule 8:00-8:20 Planning/Open Library 8:20-9:20 K rotation (Switch classes with PE at 8:50 on Library Days) (On Computer and Music Days Mrs. Riddle will assist in the gym during this time.) 9:25-10:25 1st and 2nd grade rotation (Switch classes with PE at 9:55) 10:30-10:50 Mrs. Riddle will assist in cafeteria with lunch duty/students and Mrs. Danner will have open library time. 10:55-11-25 Lunch break 11:30-12:30 3rd & 4th grade rotation (Switch classes with PE at 12:00.) 1:35-2:20 Conference 2:20-3:05 Library Open

 ACTIVITIES STUDENTS ENGAGE IN VARIOUS ACTIVITIES IN THE LIBRARY. SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES ARE RECEIVING INSTRUCTION IN LITERATURE APPRECIATION, LEARNING HOW TO USE THE ONLINE PUBLIC ACCESS CATALOG, CHECKING OUT BOOKS, AND DOING EDUCATIONAL PUZZLES.

 LEARNING THE OPAC Students in grades 3-6 are learning to use the OPAC--the ONLINE PUBLIC ACCESS CATALOG. Learning to use the OPAC will not only help the students become more comfortable and efficient in using the New Summerfield Library but will also help the students to become more comfortable in other library environments, such as local public libraries.
